Product Overview

Actichem Stain Fix is a powerful stain removal system for removing colour stains caused by cool drinks, wine, food, beverages, and organic substances. The two-part system allows controlled use of activated hydrogen peroxide, providing radical-strength stain-removal properties in a short timeframe.

Stain Fix is a two-part kit. Part A is a concentrated hydrogen peroxide oxidiser and it is the component that carries the hazard. The mixed 1:1 working solution is far milder than either component — but you handle the components, not the working solution, when you decant and mix.

Benefits

  • Stain removal — Stain Fix employs the power of hydrogen peroxide to remove the colour from the toughest dye stains, including wine and cool drinks.
  • Two-part system — ensures maximum peroxide performance for the most stubborn stains.
  • Versatile — removes colour from stains caused by juice, coffee, tea, alcoholic beverages, cool drinks, urine, cellulosic browning, foods and organics.
  • Coloursafe — safe for use on colourfast fabrics and carpets, but pretesting is recommended to ensure colour stability.
  • Fibre safe — safe for use on natural and synthetic fibres; however, delicate fabrics must be pre-tested for fibre stability before use.

Application Areas and Surface Suitability

Carpets and fabric stain removal.

Even stronger stain removal can be achieved by using the iron method. However, extreme caution should be exercised as colour loss or fibre damage can occur.

Note: Stain Fix is sensitive to heat and light. Store it out of direct sunlight and avoid storing it in your van for lengthy periods. Replace it at least monthly. This is not just a performance note — Part A is a hydrogen peroxide oxidiser, and decomposing peroxide generates oxygen and pressure in a closed container. A hot van in an Australian summer is the worst place you could keep it.

How to Use

Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location for substrate sensitivity to chemicals. Some fabrics and delicate carpets may experience colour loss.

Dilution: mix equal amounts of Part A and Part B in the provided mixing bottle.

  1. Remove as much of the stain as possible by steam extraction, then perform extra dry vacuum strokes.
  2. Mix equal amounts of Part A and Part B in the provided mixing bottle.
  3. Apply the solution directly onto the stain and agitate briefly.
  4. Allow 10 to 30 minutes reaction time for stain removal. Some stains will respond within 5 to 10 minutes, whilst others may require up to 30 minutes.
  5. Extract or blot with a clean white absorbent cloth. Do not rub.
  6. Repeat the process if required.
  7. Rinse the area with clean water or Rinse Pro.

Special application notes for using heat with Stain Fix

  1. Apply Stain Fix to the affected area, then gently agitate with a brush.
  2. Cover the area with a white terry towel. Using a steam iron, iron over the area cautiously.
  3. Examine the terry towel to see if the colour has transferred onto the towel.
  4. Cover the area again with a clean patch of the terry towel and repeat the process.
  5. Take care to watch for colour loss in the carpet.

A caution on the iron method that our page has not carried before: you are applying heat to an oxidiser on a textile. Keep the towel damp, never let the area dry out under the iron, and stop immediately if you smell scorching. Peroxide-soaked organic material plus heat is how a smouldering fire starts.

Safety

Please read this section. This listing previously described Stain Fix as “Non-hazardous”. That was wrong. It has been corrected.

Actichem’s safety data sheet for Stain Fix Part A, version 2.4 issued 25 September 2025, classifies it as a HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL under the Model WHS Regulations and as DANGEROUS GOODS under the ADG Code.

  • Signal word: DANGER
  • H272 — may intensify fire; oxidiser
  • H314 — causes severe skin burns and eye damage
  • GHS: Oxidising Liquid Category 2; Skin Corrosion Category 1A; Serious Eye Damage Category 1
  • HAZCHEM code: 2P
  • Poisons Schedule: 6
  • pH of Part A as supplied: 3.9
  • Hydrogen peroxide: 10 – under 30%

We hold the sheet for Part A only. Actichem have not published a separate sheet for Part B that we have been able to obtain, so we are not going to classify it or the kit as a whole. What we can tell you is what is in Part A, because that is the component that will hurt you.

⚠ Transport — the pack size matters

Actichem’s sheet exempts Part A from dangerous goods transport regulation in packs of 1 litre or less. That is a lower threshold than most of the Actichem range, where the exemption sits at 5 litres. A Part A container larger than 1 litre is regulated dangerous goods for transport. If you are consigning this kit rather than carrying it in your own vehicle, talk to us first.

⚠ Oxidiser storage — the fire risk people miss

H272 does not mean the product burns. It means it will make anything else burn far more fiercely, and it can start a fire without a flame. Actichem list an unusually long incompatibility set: reducing agents, rust, dust, dirt, iron, copper, acids, metals, salts, organic materials, alcohols, volatile solvents and combustibles.

In practical terms, on a working van:

  • Never let spilled Part A soak into rags, towels, carpet offcuts or sawdust and then bundle them up. Peroxide-soaked organic material can self-heat and ignite with no external ignition source.
  • Keep it away from rust and swarf. Iron and copper catalyse peroxide decomposition.
  • Store it upright, cool, out of sunlight, and away from your solvent products — that includes GumGone, Orange Solvent and any flammable liquid.
  • Never return unused mixed solution to either container.

Personal protective equipment

Actichem specify elbow-length neoprene gloves, chemical goggles with a full face shield as supplementary protection, overalls, a PVC apron, and an eyewash unit available. Given H314, that is the standard for decanting and mixing — not optional.

First aid

Eyes. Wash out immediately with fresh running water for 10 to 15 minutes, holding the eyelids open. Immediately call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor.

Skin. Immediately remove contaminated clothing including footwear. Flush skin and hair with running water and soap. Seek medical attention.

Swallowed. Do not induce vomiting. Rinse the mouth with water and immediately call a Poisons Information Centre or doctor.

Actichem Stain Fix Part A Safety Data Sheet — version 2.4, issued 25 September 2025

We have asked Actichem for the Part B sheet and will publish it here when we have it. If your risk assessment for this product was written on the basis that it was non-hazardous, it needs to be redone.
