Product Overview

Actichem Rinse Pro is a dual-purpose acid rinse that delivers full cleaning power while providing pH neutralisation at the same time.

That combination is the answer to a specific problem: heavily soiled wool carpet, where an alkaline emulsifier is exactly the wrong tool. Wool is a protein fibre and alkali damages it — but light-duty acid rinses have traditionally lacked the cleaning power for heavy soil. Rinse Pro is built to do both.

While rinsing away prespray residue and buffering the carpet back to a slightly acid pH, it also imparts anti-resoiling properties, stabilises dyes, and helps protect the fibre itself.

Rinse Pro is a direct replacement for PowerClean Cleanrinse.

Which pack size do you need?

This is the 5 litre pack. At two-step dilution that makes up to 1,500 litres of working solution. The 20 litre suits truck-mount operators and anyone doing wool work at volume.

Certifications

• WoolSafe approved. Rinse Pro exceeds the requirements for the safe cleaning of wool carpeting.
• CleanSeal approved.

If you clean wool and you quote for it, these certifications are worth naming to the customer. They are also worth having on file — a wool carpet claim is one of the more expensive things that can go wrong on a job, and using a certified product is a meaningful part of your defence.

Why an acid rinse matters

Worth being clear about, because it is the whole reason this product exists.

• Wool prefers the acid side of neutral. Alkaline residue left in wool damages the fibre over time, dulls it, and makes it resoil faster.
• Prespray residue is alkaline. If you prespray and then rinse with water alone, you leave that residue behind.
• Cellulosic browning is an alkaline phenomenon. Over-wetting a wool or jute-backed carpet draws lignin and tannin up the pile as it dries. Finishing acid is one of the practical defences against it.
• A protector applied over alkaline residue does not bond properly. If you are applying Fibre Shield afterwards, the acid rinse is a required step, not an optional one.

How to Use

Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location. Observe all safety directions and read the safety data sheet before use.

Dilution — portable extractors

• Single-step process: 100 ml per 10 L (1:100)
• Two-step process: 30–50 ml per 10 L (1:300 to 1:200)

Dilution — truck-mounted extractors

• Mix 300 ml per 10 L of water to make the truck mount concentrate.
• Set the flow meter at 2 to 4 gallons per hour.

Single-step method — light to medium soiling

1. Vacuum the area thoroughly.
2. Clean and extract using slightly overlapping strokes at the dilution above.
3. Apply carpet protector if required.
4. Realign the fibres and assist drying.

Two-step method — medium to heavy soiling

1. Vacuum thoroughly, then apply the relevant prespray with the suggested dwell time and agitation.
2. Rinse using slightly overlapping strokes at the two-step dilution.
3. Apply carpet protector if required.
4. Realign the fibres and assist drying.

Note the dilution difference between the two methods. In the two-step method the prespray has done the cleaning, so Rinse Pro is working as a rinse and neutraliser and is used at a third of the strength. Using single-step dilution in a two-step job is three times the chemical cost for no additional result — and more residue to rinse out.

Safety

This listing previously carried no safety information at all, and described Rinse Pro as having “a very low toxicity level”. Both have been corrected.

Actichem’s safety data sheet for AP440, version 2.2 issued 11 August 2025, classifies Rinse Pro as a hazardous chemical with the signal word DANGER.

The highest eye classification in the GHS system. Damage, not irritation.

The concentrate is pH 2.5. That is the point of the product, and it is also why the concentrate needs respect. Chemical goggles when decanting, diluting or filling a truck mount tank — those are the moments the concentrate is in the air and at chest height. The working solution at 1:100 to 1:300 is a very different proposition, but people are injured by concentrates, not by working solutions.

If it gets in an eye, hold the eyelids apart and flush continuously with running water for at least 15 minutes, then obtain medical attention without delay.

⚠ Prolonged contact

Rinse Pro is used on nearly every wool job, which makes it one of the products technicians handle most often. Cumulative contact is what causes the skin problems, not a single splash. Wear protective clothing and rinse off any splashes rather than working on.

What it reacts with

Actichem’s sheet records incompatible materials as “none known”. We do not think that is complete for an acidic product at pH 2.5, and we have raised it with them. As a working rule: never mix Rinse Pro with chlorine or hypochlorite products — acid plus hypochlorite releases chlorine gas — and do not mix it with alkaline preprays in the same tank, which simply neutralises both.

First aid

Eyes. Immediately hold the eyelids apart and flush continuously with running water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention without delay.

Skin. Immediately remove contaminated clothing and flush with water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
