Unsmoke Unsoot #1 Encapsulant forms a clear, encapsulating film to contain particulates and dust.
Unsoot #1's long-lasting barrier helps prevent the release of particulates, thereby helping to improve indoor air quality and occupant comfort after restoration. Use on structural wood, or for sealing ductwork and ceiling plenums after fires, smoke damage, or oil burner puff-backs. Unsoot #1 protection begins once the application is completely dry.

Where It Fits in a Fire Job
Unsoot #1 is applied after cleaning, to hold down fine particulate and residue that cannot practically be removed from rough structural surfaces such as framing timber, roof space, duct interiors and plenums. It is not a substitute for cleaning or for removing charred material. Clean first, let surfaces dry, then encapsulate.

Application
Unsmoke's application rate, dilution and recoat guidance are in the Unsoot #1 user guide, which is not currently hosted by CCW (see Documents below). Until you have it:
- Make sure surfaces are cleaned and dry before application.
- Protect surfaces you do not intend to coat.
- Ventilate during application and drying.
- Allow the film to dry completely; protection does not begin until it has.
Safety
The safety data sheet on file (Legend Brands ProRestore, product 114807-120049, US GHS format, 20 November 2024) states the product is not classified as hazardous under GHS criteria and is not regulated for transport. It lists 2-(2-butoxyethoxy)ethanol (2.5–10%) and isopropyl alcohol (1–2.5%) among its ingredients. Wear safety glasses with side shields and suitable protective clothing, avoid breathing spray mist and ensure good ventilation, especially in confined spaces such as ducts and roof voids. Do not let product enter drains.
An Australian-format SDS is not yet on file; we have asked the supplier for one.

Can I paint over Unsoot #1?
The documents on file do not say. Check the Unsoot #1 user guide or ask us before top-coating.
Does it seal in odour?
It is described as an encapsulant for particulates and dust. Odour control on structural framing is shown in the Legend Brands video as part of a system with other products, not Unsoot #1 alone.
Is it safe to use in ductwork?
The product is listed for sealing ductwork and ceiling plenums. Ventilate well while applying and drying, and make sure the duct is clean and dry first.
