Important: Two HEPA Filters Are Listed for the X-3400
CCW lists two HEPA filters for this machine: this H35 HEPA (paired with the CF35 carbon filter) and the thick HEPA filter X-3400-7 (16 x 16 x 2 in), which is XPOWER's standard third stage. XPOWER do not publish dimensions for the H35. Measure the HEPA you are removing and compare it with both listings, or ask us, before ordering.
Title correction: this listing previously carried "(X-3400-CF35)" in its title — that is the carbon filter's part number. The HEPA is H35.
Stage the filtration or you will pay for it
Filters are designed to work in series: a coarse pre-filter takes the bulk, a media filter takes the fines, and the HEPA takes what is left. Running a HEPA without the stages in front of it does not save money — it loads the most expensive filter in the machine with dust the cheapest one should have caught.
A blocked filter does not stop filtering — it stops flowing
Air scrubbers and dehumidifiers work in proportion to the air they move. As a filter loads, airflow falls, and the machine keeps running and keeps sounding normal while its actual performance drops away. Nothing on the machine tells you. The drying log shows equipment on site; the readings show a job that has stalled.
On fire, construction dust and demolition work, check filters daily.
Handle a used HEPA as contaminated waste
Everything the filter captured is still in it. On a mould, fire or sewage job, bag it as it comes out rather than carrying it through the building.
Changing a HEPA Filter
- Switch off and unplug the air scrubber.
- Wear a P2 respirator and gloves on contaminated jobs.
- Have a heavy-duty bag ready, remove the filter and bag it immediately.
- Check the seal and the housing — a HEPA that is not sealed lets air bypass it, and the efficiency figure no longer means anything.
- Fit the new filter with the airflow direction arrow the right way round and close the housing fully.

The X-3400's standard filtration is three stages: a washable nylon mesh filter, the pleated media filter and the thick HEPA. CCW also lists an H35 HEPA and CF35 carbon filter for the X-3400. XPOWER's current US listing does not describe the H35/CF35 pair, so if you are not sure which HEPA your machine takes, measure the one you are removing and ask us before ordering.
