Why two values and not one
A single check point will not reveal a meter reading with the wrong slope. 12 per cent sits around the target for dry interior timber; 22 per cent sits above the threshold where decay becomes a risk. A meter that is right at one and wrong at the other is a meter that will pass a job and fail a dispute.
When to check
Before any job where the reading is going into a report, after the meter has been dropped or left in a hot vehicle, and on a routine interval you can point to if you are ever asked. Delmhorst does not mandate an interval; a documented habit is worth more than a certificate nobody can find.
Frequently asked questions
Does this calibrate my meter?
No. It verifies it. If the meter is out, it needs to go back to Delmhorst — the standard tells you that it needs to.
Is it for paper meters too?
No. Paper meters use the MCS-2 standard, which checks at 6% and 10% paper.
Can I get a NIST-traceable certificate?
Yes. We can supply a letter of certification with NMIA traceability — the National Measurement Institute of Australia — which is the traceability an Australian auditor will expect. Additional charges apply. Delmhorst also offers NIST-traceable certification if you need it for work referencing US standards.
