Actichem Lavender Pro is a highly concentrated, professional-strength prespray detergent that delivers a high-quality, top-performing cleaner at a price you might not expect. It is built for heavily soiled and greasy carpets across a wide range of applications, including homes, offices, institutions and industry. This listing is the 20 litre bulk pack, Actichem code AP449.20.
It is a prespray, not a rinse. You dilute it, spray it, agitate it, let it dwell, then extract with an acid rinse. At 30 to 50 ml per litre, 20 litres of concentrate makes roughly 400 to 665 litres of working solution, which is why this pack is the one most full-time operators end up buying.
Product description
Lavender Pro is a lavender-scented prespray for steam cleaning carpets. It is safe and ideal for use on practically all water cleanable carpets. The formulation uses surface-wetting and emulsification chemistry to lift heavy grease, oils and tracked-in soil into suspension so that the extraction stage can actually remove it, rather than simply wetting the fibre and pushing soil deeper.

- A pleasure to use. Designed for easy use through pump-up or Hydroforce sprayers, and fragrances the area with a fresh, clean lavender scent.
Why the 20 litre pack
At standard dilution the 20 litre pack yields somewhere between 400 and 665 litres of working solution. For an operator presspraying most days, that is months of prespray in one delivery, at a materially lower cost per litre than buying four 5 litre jerricans.
It is the wrong pack if you only prespray occasionally. Twenty litres of concentrate takes up real shelf space, needs somewhere secure and frost-free to live, and is harder to handle safely than a 5 litre. If Lavender Pro is an occasional product for you, buy the 5 litre pack instead.
If you do run the 20 litre, set up a proper decanting station. A tap or a drum pump and a marked measuring jug is safer, faster and more accurate than tipping a 20 litre jerrican over a bucket, and it is the single change that most reduces the eye splash risk described under Safety.
Where Lavender Pro fits
This is a general-purpose heavy-duty prespray for synthetic carpet. It is the right product for greasy commercial traffic lanes, school and office carpet, rental turnovers and any job where soil load is the problem rather than a specific stain or contaminant.
It is the wrong product where you need a WoolSafe-approved chemistry for a wool warranty job, where you are dealing with odour contamination rather than soil, or where the substrate is upholstery or fine fabric. Actichem specify carpet as the surface for Lavender Pro.
Wool and stain-resistant carpet
Actichem state that Lavender Pro is ideal for use on virtually all carpet fibres including wool, and that it meets the specifications for use on 5th-generation stain-resistant carpet. Those are the manufacturer's claims and we publish them as the manufacturer's claims.
Lavender Pro is not WoolSafe Approved. It does not appear on the WoolSafe register of approved Actichem products, and Actichem do not list it on their own WoolSafe and CleanSeal page. The Actichem prespray that does carry WoolSafe approval is Performance Plus (AP452), and on the rinse side, Rinse Pro (AP440).
That distinction matters when you are cleaning wool under a manufacturer's warranty, or working to a specification or insurance scope that requires WoolSafe-approved chemistry. On those jobs use Actichem Performance Plus 5L instead. For general synthetic carpet work, Lavender Pro is the stronger and more economical of the two.
Its pH as supplied is 9.6. The diluted working solution will sit lower than that, but Actichem do not publish a figure for it and we have not verified one, so we will not quote one. Wool is unforgiving of alkalinity left in the fibre. If you do use Lavender Pro on wool, dilute at the weaker end of the range, keep dwell time short, and always follow with an acid rinse.

1:32 (30 ml per litre) is the standard working dilution. Move towards 1:20 (50 ml per litre) as soil load increases. There is no benefit in going stronger than the published range - past that point you are adding residue and rinse workload rather than cleaning power.
How to use
- Always prepare the carpet for cleaning by thoroughly vacuuming.
- Pre-spray the Lavender Pro solution onto the carpet. Do not allow it to dry.
- Agitate and allow 5 to 10 minutes dwell time.
- Extract rinse using Emulsifier Plus or Rinse Pro acid rinse.
- Assist drying with air movers or similar if the atmosphere is humid.
Always pre-test in an inconspicuous location for substrate sensitivity to chemicals. Observe all safety directions and read the safety data sheet before use.
The acid rinse step is not optional housekeeping. Lavender Pro is an alkaline builder and surfactant system, and alkaline residue left in the fibre attracts soil, causes rapid resoiling and, on wool, causes damage over time. The acid rinse neutralises what the prespray leaves behind. If you skip it, the carpet will look good for a fortnight and then look worse than before you cleaned it.
Safety
This listing previously described Lavender Pro as non-hazardous. That was incorrect and it has been corrected here. Actichem's current safety data sheet, AP449 version 2.3 issued 11 August 2025, classifies the concentrate as a hazardous chemical under the WHS Regulations.

- Not classified as dangerous goods. No HAZCHEM code. Ships unregulated.
This matters more with the 20 litre pack than with the 5 litre. H318 means a splash of the concentrate into an unprotected eye can cause irreversible damage, and the operation where that actually happens is decanting - lifting, tipping and pouring 20 litres of concentrate into a measuring container. Goggles, gloves and an eye wash unit are not optional at the decanting station.
Personal protective equipment specified in the safety data sheet:
- Chemical goggles, or safety glasses with side shields
- Elbow-length chemical protective gloves - neoprene or butyl
- Barrier cream and skin cleansing cream
- Access to an eye wash unit wherever the concentrate is handled
If concentrate enters an eye, wash out immediately with fresh running water for 10 to 15 minutes, holding the eyelids apart, and seek medical attention.
One discrepancy worth knowing about. Actichem's own product page gives the signal word as Warning. Their current safety data sheet for the same product code says DANGER. We publish the safety data sheet position because it is the controlled document, and we have asked Actichem to confirm it.

The concentrate is a builder and surfactant system - non-ionic and anionic surfactants, a glycol ether solvent, a pyrophosphate builder and a chelating agent, each below 10 per cent. The full ingredient list with CAS numbers is in section 3 of the safety data sheet linked above.

Is Lavender Pro WoolSafe Approved?
No. Actichem describe it as suitable for virtually all carpet fibres including wool, but it does not appear on the WoolSafe register and Actichem do not list it among their WoolSafe-approved products. If your job requires WoolSafe-approved chemistry, use Actichem Performance Plus.
What dilution should I use?
1:32, or 30 ml per litre, for normal soil. Move up towards 1:20, or 50 ml per litre, on heavily soiled and greasy carpet. Through a Hydroforce, use the brown 1:32 tip with the concentrate added neat to the container, or the yellow 1:9 tip with 1.4 to 2.25 litres of concentrate in a 5 litre container topped up with water.
Do I really need to acid rinse afterwards?
Yes. Lavender Pro is alkaline and leaves residue if it is not neutralised. An acid rinse such as Emulsifier Plus or Rinse Pro brings the fibre back to a neutral or slightly acidic pH, which is what stops rapid resoiling and protects wool and stain-resist treatments.
Actichem's website says Warning and this page says Danger. Which is right?
Use DANGER. Actichem's current safety data sheet, version 2.3 dated 11 August 2025, classifies the product as Serious Eye Damage Category 1 with the signal word DANGER. The safety data sheet is the controlled document and takes precedence over a website specification table. We have raised the inconsistency with Actichem.
Can I use it on upholstery?
Actichem specify carpet. Lavender Pro is not formulated or approved for upholstery or fine fabric, and its alkalinity is too aggressive for many upholstery fibres. Use a dedicated fine fabric prespray instead - talk to us if you are unsure which one suits the fabric you are looking at.
How long will 20 litres keep?
Actichem do not publish a shelf life for Lavender Pro and we will not invent one. Stored sealed, upright, out of direct sunlight and away from frost, in the polyethylene or polypropylene container it ships in, it is a stable product. If you are buying 20 litres, buy it because you will use it within a reasonable period, not to sit on for years.
