It needs a cuff already fitted to each hose, and the barbs are there for those cuffs to slide over. So a PVC join is four parts — two hoses, two cuffs, one connector. A mender is two hoses and one mender, and nothing else.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eRepairing a Damaged Hose\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA split or crushed section does not write off the hose. Cut out the damaged length, square both cut ends on a clean turn of the helix, and screw a mender in between.
